All you need to know and then some . . .The St. Louis School Auction is the PTO’s largest fundraising event of the year. It is a dinner event with beer and wine, featuring both a silent and live auction. It is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy a great evening out socializing with other parents while benefiting the school. You can bring home some fabulous items too!
What is the theme and is there a dress code?
This year’s theme is “Once Upon a Time” Most people who attend the auction dress to fit the theme. This theme allows for a variety of interpretation: Fairy-tale favorites seated beside rebels from a faraway galaxy. Bring your favorite stories to life!
The important thing is to have fun, be creative, and do what makes you comfortable.
How does the seating work?
Each table seats ten guests. When purchasing individual or couple tickets, please note any special seating request you have, i.e. “Please seat us with John and Jane Doe.” If you are sponsoring a table, please list those people to be seated at your table at the time of registration. If a sponsor cannot fill all ten seats the auction committee can assist to fill those empty seats.
This year, you will have the opportunity to select your seating location between the Royal Banquet Hall (gym) and the Enchanted Forest (cafeteria). Both locations will be decorated and will be filled on a first come, first served basis.
Tables will be numbered, and you will find out your table number when you check in for the Auction, either Saturday morning from 9am-12pm or prior to the event starting at 6pm.
How do I pay for what I win?
During check in, you will be asked to provide a valid credit card that will be used throughout the evening for any purchases you make (raffle tickets, auction bids, etc.). Bidders will be given a paddle with a number on it that is tagged to your payment information. Write your assigned paddle number on bid sheets to bid during the “silent” portion of the night. Use the paddle during the “live” portion. At the end of the evening, you will check out and pay for all your purchases using the credit card on file. Remember . . . a portion of your purchases may be tax deductible.
What happens during the course of the evening?
The program includes a silent auction, a live auction, a 50/50 raffle and Mystery Box. The Auction Committee will offer up plenty of wonderful items for bid in several categories—Home/Auto, Personal, Local, Food/Entertainment, Jewelry, Sports and Fitness, Teacher/School, and Class Treasures. All of these items will be on display and bidding for different categories will close throughout the night. Once the silent auction ends, a live auction of some fabulous donations is held. Raffle prizes will be drawn throughout the evening.
What’s for dinner?
Bag Lady Catering is once again providing us with an amazing meal…come hungry! This year’s menu includes:
Chicken in Sauce Madam, Medieval Spices Roast Beef, Honey Glazed Root Vegetables, Roasted Potatoes & Onions, Balsamic Roasted Shallots (For Beef), Strawberry, Spinach & Walnut Salad, Honey Cakes w/ Fig Preserves, and Yeast Rolls and Butter
Is there anything else I should know?
Yes! The St. Louis PTO has received a banquet license from the Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control to legally serve beer and wine to our guests who are 21 and older. Please do not bring in any outside alcoholic beverages for consumption or decor that may hinder our ability to obtain a license in the future. Prior to receiving your paddle number, we will ask each attendee to sign a waiver acknowledging that they understand the policy. Failure to comply may result in removal from the event.
Thank you and we can’t wait to see everyone February 3rd!
